Trump: Israel Wasn’t Consulted Before US Recognition of Syria’s New Government

US President Donald Trump said he did not seek Israel’s input before Washington decided to recognize Syria’s new administration, even though Yerushalayim has serious concerns about Islamist President Ahmed al‑Sharaa’s regime.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after leaving Abu Dhabi at the end of a four‑day Middle East tour, Trump explained, “I didn’t ask them about that. I thought it was the right thing to do. I’ve been given a lot of credit for doing it. Look, we want Syria to succeed.”
On Tuesday, Trump announced that he would lift US sanctions on Damascus.
