Trump Says Coca-Cola Agrees to Use Cane Sugar Instead of Corn Syrup

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Coca-Cola has agreed to use “REAL Cane Sugar” in its standard Coke product in the United States, a move he lauded as “very good.”

The President’s statement, made on his social media platform, read:
“I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them – You’ll see. It’s just better!”

The announcement comes as a notable development for consumers who have long expressed preferences for cane sugar over high-fructose corn syrup, the predominant sweetener in most U.S. Coca-Cola products.

Coca-Cola already utilizes cane sugar in a limited, annually released line specifically certified Kosher for Passover. This particular variant is produced to meet the dietary restrictions for Ashkenazi Jews during Passover, who avoid corn-derived products, including high-fructose corn syrup. This Passover-specific Coca-Cola has garnered a following beyond the Jewish community, with some non-Jewish consumers actively seeking it out due to its cane sugar formulation.
