President Donald Trump said he likely plans to travel to Israel “in the coming days” to address the Knesset following the announcement of a historic Gaza peace agreement.

Some reports indicate that Trump might land on Sunday, when the hostages are expected to be released.

The agreement marks a major milestone for Trump, fulfilling one of his key campaign promises to end the war in Gaza, and standing as the most significant diplomatic accomplishment of his second term.

Trump said he had just spoken with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and described their conversation as “great.” “He is so happy. He should be. It is a great achievement. The whole world has come together to reach this deal, including countries that were enemies,” Trump said.

Following their call, Netanyahu announced that he had invited Trump to address Israel’s parliament. “I will definitely do that if they want me to,” Trump told Axios.

The White House added that the president could depart for the Middle East after completing a scheduled physical exam on Friday.

According to terms of the deal, the remaining Israeli hostages, 20 of whom are believed to still be alive, are set to be released by Monday. Trump’s planned visit is expected to coincide with their long-awaited return to Israel.
