In a statement made moments ago on Truth Social, President Donald Trump revealed that his representatives met with Israeli officials to discuss the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Trump says that the outcome of the meeting was Israel’s agreement to a 60-day ceasefire, aimed at pausing hostilities and fostering peace talks.
Trump stated, “My representatives had a productive meeting today with the Israelis regarding Gaza.” He further noted, “The Israelis agreed to our conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in which we will work with all parties to end this war.”
According to the statement, Qatar and Egypt have stepped in as mediators, tasked with presenting the final ceasefire proposal to Hamas. Trump acknowledged their efforts, saying, “The Qataris and Egyptians who have worked hard to bring peace will be delivering the final proposal.” He called on Hamas to accept the deal, warning that rejecting it would lead to a worsening of the situation. He emphasized, “I hope Hamas accepts the deal. It will not get better and will only get worse.” This reflects his urging for agreement, with a stark warning of potential escalation.
Trump expressed gratitude to all involved parties and stressed his hope for an end to the conflict.
