Trump Signals Federal Crime Crackdown As Chicago Shootings Leave 3 Dead

Three people were killed in separate shootings overnight on Friday in Chicago, adding to the ongoing surge of violence in the Democrat-run city.

The same day, President Donald Trump visit to the U.S. Park Police Anacostia operations facility in Washington, D.C., where he warned that his administration may expand its federal law enforcement presence in more cities plagued by violent crime.

“Everybody’s safe now, everybody feels safe,” Trump said about Washington D.C. “It’s our capital and I guess it used to be many years ago, say, but it’s certainly not had a very good run. And you’ve got to be strong. You’ve got to be tough. You’ve got to do your job.”

Trump suggested his crime crackdown could soon extend beyond Washington.

“We’re going to make it safe, and we’re going to then go on to other places, but we’re going to stay here for a while,” he said. “We want to make this absolutely perfect.”

The first deadly shooting in Chicago happened shortly after 10 p.m., when two 38-year-old men were standing outside and were approached by a gunman who opened fire, according to FOX 32.

Both victims were struck in the side and rushed to nearby hospitals, where they later died from their wounds.

Less than an hour later, another shooting broke out. A 27-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were shot multiple times after a suspect approached them on foot and began firing, FOX 32 reported.

The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the man survived and is listed in stable condition.

Chicago police confirmed that no arrests have been made in either case. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not yet released the victims’ names.
