US President Donald Trump said he doesn’t believe Iran will restart its nuclear program soon, but emphasized uncertainty, stating, “Time will tell, but I don’t believe that they’re going to go back into nuclear anytime soon.”
Speaking during a White House press conference, Trump repeated his claim that Iran has not moved any nuclear material from the site targeted in the recent US strike. He also said Iran hadn’t managed to relocate anything before the attack, though that assertion has been challenged by European intelligence agencies.
Trump again claimed that Iran is interested in holding talks, even as officials in Tehran have publicly denied any such willingness.
He noted that he would want the International Atomic Energy Agency, or another trustworthy organization, to be involved in monitoring the situation.
When asked if he would authorize another strike should Iran resume high-level uranium enrichment, Trump replied, “absolutely.”
