President Donald Trump is set to convene a summit in Egypt next week aimed at securing international support for his Gaza peace plan, according to multiple sources cited by Axios.

The meeting, organized by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, will include leaders and foreign ministers from countries that have become decidedly anti Israel since October 7, such as France, the UK, and Turkey, as well as Germany and Italy. Representatives from Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Indonesia will also attend, while Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who fought a two year war to remove Hamas from Gaza, will not be invited, according to Channel 12.

The summit comes on the heels of a landmark ceasefire agreement brokered with the assistance of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, which was approved by the Israeli Cabinet. The deal includes the release of approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, the return of 20 living Israeli hostages, and the establishment of a multinational task force to assist in locating the murdered hostages.

Trump has emphasized the importance of the summit in garnering broader global support for the peace plan, which still faces unresolved issues regarding post-conflict governance, Hamas disarming, security arrangements, and reconstruction efforts.

A similar conference of world leaders was held in Paris shortly before Israel approved the ceasefire deal.
