U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning Monday evening on Truth Social, urging the immediate evacuation of Tehran and declaring Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump wrote.

He later followed up with another post: “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

Shortly after Trump’s posts, reports emerged of explosions and heavy anti-aircraft fire in Tehran. Additional strikes were also reported in other Iranian cities, including Natanz.

A White House official told CNN that Trump’s statement highlighted the urgency of Iran returning to negotiations. The official noted Trump had been receiving updates throughout the day from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other advisors while attending the G7 summit in Canada.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump would be departing the summit early due to escalating tensions.

“President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State,” she posted on X.

When asked by reporters why he was cutting his trip short, Trump replied, “You probably see what I see… I have to be back early — for obvious reasons.”

Just over an hour before issuing his evacuation warning, Trump told reporters at the summit that Iran was back at the negotiating table and predicted a deal would soon be reached. “They would be foolish not to,” he said.

“I’m in constant touch [with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu], and as I’ve been saying, I think a deal will be signed, or something will happen, but a deal will be signed, and I think Iran is foolish not to sign one. Iran should have signed the deal,” Trump continued.

“I think Iran basically is at the negotiating table. They want to make a deal, and as soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Trump called on Iran to make a deal to end the war with Israel, warning that the conflict was not going in Iran’s favor. “They have to make a deal. It’s painful for both parties, but I’d say that Iran is not winning this war. They should talk, and they should talk immediately before it’s too late,” he said.
