Massive TSA delays are hitting major U.S. airports during the ongoing DHS funding lapse, with some travelers reporting security wait times of up to 3.5 hours due to staffing shortages.

Airlines and airports are now advising travelers to arrive up to 4 hours before flights as the shutdown continues, while TSA officers remain on duty but are receiving partial paychecks.

TSA’s website and mobile app stopped updating wait times after staff managing the systems were furloughed, leaving passengers without real-time information on airport security lines.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier on Tuesday during a press briefing: “To the 100,000 DHS employees out there who are struggling without a paycheck, to any American out there who is showing up to an airport and facing incredibly long wait times, call your Democrat member of Congress and tell them to fund the DHS”.
