American media personality Tucker Carlson, who was named Antisemitism Watchdog StopAntisemitism’s “Antisemite of the Year,” claimed on Saturday night that Americans only view radical Islam as the country’s top security threat because of alleged psychological manipulation by Israel and its supporters, and not because of the myriad terror attacks in recent years carried out by Islamic extremists.

Speaking in an interview with The American Conservative, Carlson reacted to a poll conducted at TurningPointUSA’s AmericaFest that ranked radical Islam as the primary danger facing the United States, asserting that the results were not organic but rather the product of Israeli government influence and its allies inside the U.S.

Carlson argued that pro-Israel Americans believe that “their people, whoever they’re defending, are specially chosen by God and that others are sub-human,” a claim he used to justify his accusation, made without evidence, that Israel exerts covert psychological influence over American public opinion.

Carlson then attempted to present his remarks as a moral critique, arguing that singling out Muslims as a threat was no different from antisemitism. “The answer, obviously, is it’s not. And does that mean hating their children? Their ancestors, their grandchildren? The whole thing is disgusting,” he said.

In another part of the interview, Carlson referenced the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, claiming that criticism he received for condemning it was evidence of pro-Israel pressure. “When I remarked Hiroshima was disgusting and immoral, which it was, I was immediately attacked by Ben Shapiro. And you know my obvious conclusion was: he attacked me because it implicates what’s happening in Gaza. If it’s bad to bomb children to death in Hiroshima, it’s equally bad in Gaza… ”.

He concluded with another inflammatory statement that dismissed the reality of antisemitism in the United States, saying, “I think white people are the main victims of discrimination in the United States, not Jews, obviously.” Jews account for the majority of hate crime victims in areas where they live nationwide, according to police records.

Carlson’s remarks fit into a broader pattern that has drawn condemnation from Jewish organizations, including StopAntisemitism, which cited his repeated promotion of antisemitic tropes and conspiracies when it named him Antisemite of the Year.
