Two IDF soldiers were killed and three wounded this morning when Palestinian terrorists attacked troops in southeastern Rafah, near the Salah a-Din road.

The fallen soldiers are Maj. Yaniv Kula, 26, and Staff Sgt. Itay Yavetz, 21, both from Modiin and serving in the Nahal Brigade’s 932nd Battalion.

Terrorists emerged from a tunnel east of the Yellow Line, firing RPGs at an excavator, killing the two troops, before additional sniper fire wounded three others.

The IDF says the forces were operating in an area under Israeli control as part of the ceasefire deal to clear Hamas infrastructure.

In response, the Israeli Air Force and round troops launched airstrikes in southern Gaza, including on a tunnel system once used to hold hostages.
