Volunteers from the Tzedek organization on Sunday, 17 Tamuz, visited Woodbourne and Shawangunk state prisons to facilitate davening for incarcerated individuals, the group said.
These visits are part of Tzedek’s Rosh Chodesh and Yom Tov Prison Program. The program’s objective is to dispatch volunteers to various correctional facilities across New York State.
Tzedek in a statement said that volunteers “enter facilities across New York State to daven with fellow Yidden, share words of chizuk, and remind them they are not forgotten.”
The organization said that these visits provide not only the opportunity to daven with a Minyan, but also “meaningful connection and encouragement for those spending time behind bars.”
“May these efforts bring zechusim to all involved and continue to uplift those who need it most,” the statement concluded.
