The Tzedek organization, a long-time advocate for affordable fertility treatments, refuted on Sunday a recent report by The Washington Post that suggested the Trump administration was backing away from its campaign promise to mandate insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The report, published on Saturday, claimed that despite President Donald Trump’s earlier promise to expand access to IVF and an executive order he signed to that effect, the White House currently has no plans to mandate coverage. According to the Post, White House officials cited legal constraints, stating that mandating coverage would require congressional approval and that no such bill is currently in the works.

Tzedek, which has been lobbying the administration on this issue for years, quickly refuted the claims.

In an exclusive statement provided to Belaaz, Tzedek said: “We’ve been assured directly by senior White House officials that expanding access to fertility care remains a priority. This report, based on unnamed sources, doesn’t reflect the full picture.”

The group emphasized that its work with the administration is ongoing and explores a variety of options. “Internal deliberations are normal in any policy process, but the administration’s commitment has not wavered, and we’re actively working with them on multiple policy strategies beyond just the Essential Health Benefits route,” Tzedek said.
