Netanyahu and Biden at the White House

U.S. President Joe Biden spoke this afternoon (Sunday) with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the progress of a hostage deal and Gaza ceasefire currently being mediated by Qatar.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office released this following statement:

“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with U.S. President Joe Biden today, providing updates on the progress of negotiations for the release of Israeli hostages. Netanyahu informed President Biden about the mandate he has given to the delegation in Doha to advance these efforts. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to both President Biden and President-elect Donald Trump for their cooperation in this vital mission.”

Earlier this morning, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said: “We are very, very close to a hostage deal, but still far because we are not there yet. It’s possible to finalize it before January 20th, but I can’t be certain.”
