British law enforcement announced Friday they will not pursue charges against the Irish rap group Kneecap, following an investigation into their conduct during a performance at last month’s Glastonbury Festival.

“Detectives sought advice from the Crown Prosecution Service during their enquiries and after that advice, we have made the decision to take no further action on the grounds there is insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction for any offence,” said Avon and Somerset Police in an official statement.

During their set, Kneecap, dressed in keffiyehs, encouraged the audience, who had brought Palestinian flags, to chant “Free Palestine.”

The group also led a profanity-filled chant directed at UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Starmer had previously criticized Kneecap’s appearance at the festival, saying it was “inappropriate,” especially in light of criminal charges against one of the group’s members.

One of the band members, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, known on stage as Mo Chara, is facing charges under the Terrorism Act. Authorities allege he showed support for a banned terrorist organization by waving a Hezbollah flag at a London concert in 2024.
