UK authorities warned Wednesday that individuals publicly chanting slogans such as “globalize the intifada” will face arrest, citing a shift in the threat environment after the Bondi Beach attack.

The London Metropolitan and Greater Manchester police emphasized that violent incidents have changed the context, and that words now carry serious consequences, prompting a more decisive law enforcement response.

Security has been increased around shuls, Jewish schools, and community centers across the country in line with the warnings.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar called on Australian authorities to respond to the surge in antisemitism since the October 7, 2023, attack and the subsequent war in Gaza, highlighting violent incitement against Israel and Jews.

Sa’ar noted slogans heard at pro-Palestinian protests, including “Globalize the Intifada,” “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free,” and “Death to the IDF.”

Although British prosecutors have previously determined such phrases do not meet the threshold for prosecution, Met Commissioner Mark Rowley and Manchester Chief Constable Stephen Watson said authorities will now take a more assertive stance given the heightened threat level.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose wife is Jewish, condemned the weekend shooting in Australia as “sickening” and described it as “an antisemitic terrorist attack against Jewish families.”
