The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon has uncovered more than 225 weapons stockpiles in the southern region and handed them over to the Lebanese military since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah terrorists began in November, UNIFIL said Monday.

The truce brought an end to over a year of rocket and done strikes on Israeli civilians by the Iran-backed terrorists.

As part of the agreement, Hezbollah was required to relocate its terrorists to areas north of Lebanon’s Litani River – which they were anyways required to do under numerous YN resolutions – while Israel was expected to withdraw all its forces from southern Lebanon. Despite this, Israel has maintained a military presence in fivezones and says that Lebanon has not done enough to keep Hezbollah in check.

UNIFIL also did not prevent Hezbollah from attacking Israel last year and in 2023.

Since the truce began on November 27, “peacekeepers have found over 225 weapons caches and referred them” to the Lebanese army, according to a statement from UNIFIL.

UNIFIL is also a member of the committee tasked with overseeing the truce, alongside France, the United States, and both the Israeli and Lebanese governments.

“With UNIFIL support,” the Lebanese military has “redeployed to more than 120 permanent positions south of the Litani,” the peacekeeping force reported.
