Washington, D.C. – Just hours after his last minute arrival in Washington, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu held a meeting at the Blair House with United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, along with the U.S. trade representative, Jamieson Greer.
The central topic of discussion was the newly announced tariffs, which was introduced last week by the Commerce Secretary along with President Donald Trump. According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the matter is expected to be raised again during tomorrow’s (Monday) scheduled meeting between the Prime Minister and President Trump at the White House.
“The meeting was warm and productive, and conducted in a pleasant spirit,” the Prime Minister’s Office stated in a press release.
As per the Prime Minister’s itinerary, the meeting with President Trump is set to take place tomorrow at 1:00 PM, followed by a joint press conference. On Tuesday, PM Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, as well as with several senators and senior members of the U.S. administration.
The Prime Minister is expected to return to the Israel on Wednesday.
As a reminder, last week President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday a 10% minimum tax on imports from all nations, including Israel along with increased tariff rates for several countries that have tariffs on US goods.
Speaking at an event in the Rose Garden, Trump presented charts illustrating the tariff rates that the U.S. would impose on various countries, determined based on the tariffs those nations currently place on American goods.
