At an emotional event on Wednesday organized by askan Shay Graucher, twins Gali and Ziv Berman, recently released from Hamas captivity in Gaza, put on tefillin together for the first time in years.
The brothers were visibly moved as they put on the tefillin, recited “Shema Yisrael” aloud, and then joined attendees in a spirited dance to “Am Yisrael Chai.”
Ziv shared that it was his first time laying tefillin since his bar mitzvah, while Gali recalled having put on tefillin previously at a Chabad House abroad.
The twins and Graucher met with members of the Palm Beach Jewish community and Rabbi Moshe Shiner.
Graucher also presented both brothers with silver Menoras and Kiddush cups, and they sang Eishes Chayil in front of their mother.
