U.S. Southern Command announced the apprehension of the Motor Vessel Sagitta in the Caribbean on Tuesday, January 20, marking the seventh tanker seized under Operation Southern Spear.

“This morning, U.S. military forces, in support of the Department of Homeland Security, apprehended Motor Vessel Sagitta without incident,” SOUTHCOM said in a statement.

The command highlighted the vessel’s violation, noting it was “operating in defiance of President Trump’s established quarantine of sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean,” which “demonstrates our resolve to ensure that the only oil leaving Venezuela will be oil that is coordinated properly and lawfully.”
