Yarden Bibas, recently freed from captivity by Hamas, made a heartfelt plea to former U.S. President Donald Trump in an interview with CBS News over the weekend. Bibas, who tragically lost his wife, Shiri Hy’d, and their two young sons, Kefir and Ariel Hy”d, in a brutal terrorist attack, urged Trump to take action in ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of all remaining hostages.

“Please stop this war and help bring all of the hostages back,” Yarden pleaded. When asked if he believed Trump could make a difference, he replied, “I know he can help. I’m only here because of Trump. I owe my freedom to him.”

Yarden also voiced deep concerns about Israel’s renewed military operations, fearing that further escalation could endanger the hostages still being held. Of the 59 individuals believed to still be in Gaza, roughly 24 are thought to be alive.

A recent poll found that 69% of Israelis support ending the conflict in exchange for the release of the remaining captives—a stance at odds with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who argues that such a move would allow Hamas to retain control.

During the interview, Bibas wore a t-shirt featuring images of David and Ariel Cunio, his neighbors from Kibbutz Nir Oz, one of the hardest-hit locations in the October 7 massacre.
