Making good on a promise made before taking the helm of the army, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir is reportedly advocating for an escalation in Israel’s military offensive against Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
According to Channel 12 news, Zamir has conveyed to political leaders in recent discussions that “Hamas is stalling for time; it’s a strategy, not a tactic.”
“The IDF’s operation impacts Hamas and creates some movement, but it doesn’t compel them to release the hostages,” Zamir was quoted as saying.
Zamir previously said that his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, wasn’t aggressive enough in past IDF operations in Gaza and that if Israel would return to the enclave, it would be with a more devastating force.
