Eyal Zamir officially began his position as IDF Chief of Staff on Wednesday, replacing Herzi Halevi, who resigned over the army’s failures related to the Oct. 7 massacre.
Zamir, 59, assumed office in a ceremony held at 11AM with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and other officials. Zamir’s uniform received new insignia marking his new rank of lieutenant general, the military’s highest position.
The new Chief says if Israel returns to Gaza, it will be with fiercer operations than his predecessor.
